• Sajabal mugwort, grown exclusively on Ganghwa Island, is cultivated without pesticides and is certified as an eco-friendly agricultural product. Even ladybugs, which are rarely seen elsewhere, are a familiar sight at the Ganghwa Medicinal Mugwort Garden.
• The upper leaves (the top 3 to 5 nodes) of Sajabal medicinal mugwort are harvested around May 10, when the plant contains the highest concentration of medicinal properties.
• After washing, the leaves go through a roasting process in a preheated cast iron pot. This is followed by three rounds of rolling and two stages of fermentation to reduce bitterness and bring out a rich, savory flavor.
